Data Center Technician

Salary: $57,500 - 118,200 per year Requirements: We require knowledge of server, storage, and network hardware. We value a strong interest in learning new data center concepts. We require strong verbal and written communication skills. We require 2+ years of experience working in an IT environment. We require experience troubleshooting servers, networking devices, and other IT equipment. We require inventory management experience, including ordering, receiving, and shipping server parts. We require experience working on-call and responding to critical incidents as needed. We require experience escalating issues to senior onsite staff and management when needed. We require knowledge of IT hardware concepts such as RAID, SAN, SCSI, Linux/Unix, and GRUB. We consider knowledge of trunk infrastructure a plus. We prefer a 2-year or 4-year degree, or 4+ years of experience. We prefer 1+ year of experience with structured copper and fiber cabling, cable testing, and data center cooling and electrical systems concepts. We offer day shift or night shift schedules of 4 days per week with 10-hour shifts, which may include weekends and holidays. Responsibilities: We install and configure enterprise servers, cabling infrastructure, and related hardware. We replace failed hardware components and perform break/fix work on field-replaceable units. We set up racks, complete cabling and power-up tasks, and hand servers over to internal provisioning teams. We troubleshoot and resolve telecommunications connectivity issues. We troubleshoot and replace network switch equipment. We work within a ticketing system used by multiple Oracle Cloud service owners and teams. We document our work and create or update standard operating procedures. We handle structured cabling, labeling, and troubleshooting for fiber, copper, and telecom cables. We install, repair, and maintain system power supplies and cabling. We install and remove hardware in data center racks while protecting nearby equipment and critical site infrastructure. We maintain asset inventory and update internal applications as needed. We complete training aligned with corporate objectives to close skill gaps and learn relevant new technologies. We meet service level agreements on assigned tickets. We define, design, and implement network communications and solutions in a fast-paced, leading-edge environment.
