Lead Principal Network Developer

Salary: $142,000 - 194,000 per year Requirements: We are looking for a senior individual contributor with deep expertise in network products engineering and cloud-scale infrastructure. We need someone who can provide technical leadership, define architectural direction, and shape product strategy across a complex organization. You should have strong experience influencing cross-functional partners, vendors, and external stakeholders without direct authority. We expect proven knowledge of network design, validation, automation, testing, monitoring, reliability, and capacity planning. You should be comfortable working across hardware, software, operations, supply chain, finance, and product teams. We value the ability to analyze performance metrics, anticipate future capacity needs, and create technical documentation such as design and white papers. Strong problem-solving skills, incident leadership, and experience with governance, risk, and compliance activities are important. Experience mentoring others and contributing thought leadership through presentations, research, or written work is preferred. Responsibilities: We consult on network design across internal teams to assess feasibility and advance large-scale enterprise, data center, and cloud networking solutions. We oversee production network validation and refine scaling strategies to align with business goals. We influence network architecture and validation decisions while identifying and reducing complex technical risks before deployment. We partner with vendors and internal groups to resolve firmware, software, configuration, and quality issues that affect product reliability. We design playbooks for highly complex network problems and improve network processes to increase efficiency. We lead automation framework development, expand automation for production and lab environments, and enhance scripts, dashboards, telemetry, and alerting. We update and create test cases and test strategies, improve break-fix validation, and strengthen root cause analysis practices. We lead executive change management reviews and support qualification and compliance processes before deployment. We monitor network health, define metrics and thresholds, and improve anomaly detection, incident response, and escalation handling. We collaborate with program managers and cross-functional leaders to meet milestone, roadmap, and deployment commitments. We provide technical mentorship, drive high-visibility incident response, and deliver root cause analysis outcomes for major incidents. We analyze latency, throughput, packet loss, and other performance signals to plan and architect future capacity. We manage timelines, deliverables, and budgets for high-impact initiatives when applicable. We lead advanced problem-solving efforts, contribute thought leadership, support continuous learning, and help develop talent across the organization.
