Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician Location: Richmond, VA Job Type: Contract-to-Hire Starting Pay: $34.67/hour — higher rates available depending on experience Job Summary We are seeking a skilled Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician to support industrial manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for troubleshooting, preventive and corrective maintenance, equipment repairs, fabrication, welding, and supporting the reliability of plant equipment. The ideal candidate is a versatile maintenance professional with strong hydraulic and electrical experience , along with mechanical, pneumatic, and welding skills. Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance (PM) and corrective maintenance (CM) on industrial equipment. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated equipment. Diagnose electrical issues using tools such as megohmmeters (megger) and electrical testing equipment. Troubleshoot motors, fuses, PLCs, light curtains, and area scanners . Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic valves and systems , including checking hydraulic pressures. Work with pneumatic systems and air cylinders . Perform reliability-focused maintenance and equipment repairs. Perform extensive MIG and Stick welding for equipment repairs and fabrication. Repair damaged equipment components, including shafts, wheels, and other mechanical parts. Perform lubrication, alignment, adjustments, cleaning, and other preventive maintenance tasks. Assist with installation and setup of new equipment. Safely operate mobile equipment as required. Support maintenance activities involving material handling systems, machine tools, fluid controls, and automated manufacturing equipment. Work with hydraulic, pneumatic, combustion, and PLC systems . Complete required maintenance documentation and records. Maintain clean and safe work areas after completing projects. Participate in maintenance shutdowns, projects, and construction activities as needed. Identify and communicate preventive maintenance and equipment reliability needs. Follow all safety, environmental, emergency, and company policies and procedures. Equipment Experience with industrial equipment such as: Hydraulic presses Conveyor systems Rollers Chains and sprockets Billet furnaces Industrial machinery and automated manufacturing equipment Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Previous industrial maintenance experience required . Hands-on hydraulic experience , including valves and pressure troubleshooting. Electrical troubleshooting experience , including: PLCs Motors Fuses Phase-to-phase testing Megohmmeters/megger Light curtains Area scanners Experience with pneumatics and air cylinders . Welding experience, including MIG and Stick welding . Ability to troubleshoot and repair both mechanical and electrical equipment. Ability to perform preventive and corrective maintenance. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Consistent attendance and punctuality. Ability to meet the physical and safety requirements of an industrial work environment. Safety-conscious, dependable, hardworking, and willing to learn. Preferred Qualifications 3–4 year maintenance apprenticeship completed, with Journeyman Card. Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Industrial Maintenance. Experience with machine shop work and plumbing. Additional experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, combustion, or PLC systems.
