Operations Research Systems Analyst

Salary: $100,000 - 140,000 per year Requirements: We require a bachelors degree in Operations Research, Mathematics, Systems Engineering, Data Science, or a closely related analytical field, plus at least 5 years of experience performing quantitative and qualitative analysis in support of military operations, wargaming, or defense planning; candidates without a degree should bring 10 years of relevant experience. We need demonstrated proficiency with statistical analysis and data visualization tools such as Python, R, Tableau, and Excel. We expect a solid understanding of Marine Corps organization, doctrine, and future force design concepts. We look for the ability to turn complex data into practical recommendations and communicate clearly with non-technical audiences. We require an active current TS/SCI security clearance. We need candidates who can occasionally handle manual labor and warehouse tasks and lift up to 50 pounds. We require the ability to remain in a stationary position for about half of the workday. A masters degree in Operations Research or a related technical discipline is preferred. Experience building evaluation frameworks and data collection plans for exercises or wargames is preferred. Familiarity with combat modeling and simulation tools used in the Department of Defense is preferred. Prior military service, especially in the United States Marine Corps, with operational planning experience is preferred. Responsibilities: We design, develop, and run wargames and tabletop exercises that support the Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratorys strategic goals. We use operations research, statistical methods, and mathematical modeling to assess wargame results and operational concepts. We partner with military planners, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders to define scenarios, objectives, and evaluation criteria. We gather, organize, and analyze quantitative and qualitative data produced during wargaming events to uncover patterns and capability shortfalls. We prepare detailed reports, briefings, and presentations to share insights and recommendations with senior leaders. We help integrate modeling and simulation tools to improve realism and strengthen the analytical quality of wargame execution.
