Senior Embedded Engineer

Salary: $154000 - 257000 per year Requirements: We require a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field with at least 7 years of industry experience, or a Masters degree with at least 10 years of industry experience, or a Bachelors degree with at least 15 years of industry experience. We need 3 to 7 years of deep FPGA/SoC design and development experience using Verilog and VHDL. We need 3 to 7 years of hands-on experience with Xilinx and/or Altera devices, toolchains, and ecosystems such as ModelSim, Intel Quartus, and Xilinx Vivado. We need 3 to 7 years of experience building real-time embedded applications and systems on microcontrollers, FPGAs, x86, and/or ARM processors. We need 3 to 7 years of experience with heterogeneous computing architectures and hardware acceleration methods. We need 3 to 7 years of strong embedded software development skills in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, Python, or MATLAB. We need 3 to 7 years of experience with Linux driver and/or Linux kernel development, along with Linux build systems such as Yocto. We prefer candidates with an active/current U.S. security clearance. We prefer candidates with a proven history of developing successful proposals with U.S. government agencies such as DOE, ARPA-e, CESER, DOD, or DARPA. We prefer familiarity with real-time hypervisors and container technologies such as RTS, VxWorks, and Docker. We prefer experience with real-time operating systems such as QNX and RTLinux. We prefer understanding of embedded system security requirements and cybersecurity methods. We require the ability to maintain a U.S. security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. We require authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future. We require willingness to work from our office in Niskayuna, New York. Responsibilities: We work with our Aperture Cloud businesses to move edge computing, real-time embedded controls, and embedded communications from lab demos into field-ready prototypes. We design, model, simulate, implement, and refine real-time critical embedded systems. We partner with hardware suppliers and engineering tool vendors to evaluate and choose solutions for demanding industrial and defense use cases. We collaborate with U.S. government agencies to develop winning proposals and lead programs that strengthen protection of critical national infrastructure. We work alongside universities, industrial consortiums, commercial partners, and other collaborators to advance embedded computing technology. We publish technical articles, file patents, and contribute to open-source initiatives. We help lead multimillion-dollar R&D programs aligned with our energy businesses and government partners. We shape and build strategic partnerships that accelerate innovative embedded computing solutions.
