Senior Mainframe Developer

Salary: $114,080 - 218,030 per year Requirements: We require a bachelors degree, or 4 years of relevant education and/or experience. We need 6+ years of software development experience, including at least 3 years building and supporting applications in an IBM mainframe environment. We require 4+ years of experience delivering technology solutions across all phases of the software systems and application development lifecycle, including source control, change control, promotion, and leading code/design reviews. We need advanced proficiency in PL/I programming, including enhancements, debugging, performance tuning, and production support. We require expertise in JCL, including writing, modifying, troubleshooting, scheduling, and optimizing batch processes and job streams. We need demonstrated experience with IMS z/OS performance tuning, including identifying bottlenecks, improving transaction response times, and increasing overall throughput. We require experience with IBM IMS Database (IMS DB). We need experience using monitoring and observability tools such as Elastic to analyze performance, investigate production issues, monitor system health, and support proactive optimization. We require experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, including daily standups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and reviews. Responsibilities: We design, develop, code, and test complex tactical and strategic technical solutions across multiple technologies, including emerging tools, to integrate existing systems and tools. We collaborate with engineers and architects within our team and sometimes outside our domain. We lead code and design reviews and keep stakeholders informed to support smooth operations and accurate planning. We develop complex algorithms to address business needs. We investigate and resolve complex application, system, and production issues by directing end-to-end troubleshooting. We mentor engineers, coach them on design, development, and system maintenance, and review teammates code. We help shape the future architecture and quality standards of the domain. We identify system performance issues, including technical debt, and optimize the solution. We ensure business risks are identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in line with risk and compliance policies and procedures. We participate in an on-call rotation for incidents and escalations one week every 5-6 weeks.
