Senior Software Engineer, Core Infrastructure

Salary: $142,000 - 194,000 per year Requirements: We require 8 years of software development experience, or a relevant bachelors degree plus 4 years of software development experience, or a relevant masters degree plus 2 years of software development experience, or a doctorate in a related field. We expect a background in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, electrical/electronics engineering, computer information systems, information systems, information technology, telecommunications, mathematics, physics, or a related discipline. Responsibilities: We design, implement, and optimize components in distributed systems with a focus on scalability, resilience, and operability. We build features and performance tests, and we use data plane platforms and distributed state tools for large-scale retrieval, storage, and processing. We review peer implementations to ensure scalability requirements are met. We create fault-tolerant solutions using redundancy, replication, and automatic failover. We apply recovery-oriented design principles and implement retries, circuit breakers, and timeouts to handle network instability. We proactively detect and resolve issues using tests, alarms, dashboards, telemetry, and alerting. We write runbooks and support incident response and root cause analysis. We implement standard replication and synchronization to maintain data integrity and availability. We develop automation and infrastructure-as-code tools for troubleshooting and maintenance. We apply advanced security controls such as encryption, access management, and remediation measures. We ensure cloud infrastructure complies with applicable standards and regulations, and that documentation remains current. We manage patching, updates, and rollbacks in line with change management plans. We track timelines, prioritize work, collaborate across teams, solve issues, share knowledge, and look for continuous improvements.
