Senior System Engineer

Salary: $100,000 - 140,000 per year Requirements: We require a bachelors degree with 12+ years of relevant Systems Engineer experience, or an associates degree with 15 years, or 20 years of experience without a degree. We require an IAM II certification, with a DoD 8140-compliant credential in place at start of employment; acceptable options include CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, or SSCP. We need working knowledge of VMware technologies including vCenter, ESXi, VSAN, and NSX. We need working knowledge of NetApp environments, including Cluster and SAN. We need working knowledge of networking technologies such as firewalls, switches, and wireless systems. We need familiarity with operating systems including Linux, Windows, and Mac OSX. We need familiarity with data center power, space, and cooling design and configuration. We need familiarity with STE/STN. We require a current, active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph, to be maintained. Responsibilities: We lead engineering support for datacenters with multi-domain, cross-platform networks. We standardize and track rack space and networking equipment, including locations, asset details, operating systems, maintenance, retirement planning, consolidation, and procurement. We install, configure, and support mobile cellular and wireless networks, including switches, routers, gateway or functional servers, for campus- or enterprise-scale environments. We administer VMware ESXi servers, vCloud Director, NetApp storage, and cellular/wireless networks. We design, implement, and configure 2G, 3G, and 4G/LTE cellular networks. We install and implement network firewalls and provide testing support. We manage workstation and server environments, including remote connectivity, APC remote power, DNS, and account administration for Windows, Linux, and Ubuntu. We lead medium to large complex projects and major phases of very large initiatives. We coordinate and integrate the work of other IT staff and contractors for efforts of varying size and complexity, including carrier and long-term service-provider support. We evaluate and recommend hardware, software, and service solutions based on program and technical needs. We research methods used by other installations, including higher education institutions, through professional organizations. We monitor relevant forums for job-related issues, stay current on emerging problems, and share useful technical insights with colleagues.
