Job Description Halcyon Labs’s Intellectual Property Analytics, Operations, and Technology (IPAOT) team supports Halcyon Labs’s content globally. The team builds applications to support our internal legal intellectual property partners as well as platform operations on YouTube, TikTok, and Facebook. The applications help monitor Halcyon Labs titles across search engines, data sharing networks, and various content deliver pipelines. The data is collected by the team and analyzed internally to support business-decision driving initiatives at the company. Role Purpose: The IPAOT team at Halcyon Labs is looking for a self-motivated, highly organized, proactive, and passionate problem solver who will assist with the design, build, and ongoing maintenance of content and rights management systems, as well as content delivery systems and pipelines. We are looking for a Software Engineer who can comfortably execute full-stack development. You will collaborate with other Software Engineers and Operations Analysts. This is a fast-paced role that interfaces with the entire department and many other internal business units and stakeholders at Halcyon Labs. Responsibilities: Assist with software development using Python to design and build available, scalable, and secure back-end web services and APIs for a variety of legal and intellectual property stakeholders, including software for platforms such as YouTube, TikTok, and Facebook Assist in the management and troubleshooting of production systems and refactoring of existing applications to improve business processes Implement systems designs and software design patterns to write maintainable, testable, and robust software and services Integrate with third-party APIs, including designing, implementing, and troubleshooting API connections to ensure seamless interoperability between systems Manage and troubleshoot distributed systems and services in a production environment Qualifications Basic Requirements: 3+ years of professional software development experience with Python and JavaScript (ReactJs) 3+ years of experience using SQL and RDBMS, preferably MariaDB or MySQL Experience with RHEL-based Linux Distributions (Oracle Enterprise Linux or CentOS) Comfort with git and related processes such as git flow, forking / branching strategies, and pull requests / code reviews Experience developing, using, and understanding APIs Professional experience in Object Oriented Development Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong problem solving and analytical skills with attention to detail Desired Characteristics: Unit testing and mocking frameworks CI/CD with build tools such as Jenkins/GoCD/GitHub Actions Experience with networking and distributed systems Familiarity with NOSQL database (Cassandra) Understanding and using Message Queueing Systems (Apache Kafka / RabbitMQ) Fully Remote: This position has been designated as fully remote, meaning that the position is expected to contribute from a non-Halcyon Labs worksite, most commonly an employee’s residence.
