As a Staff Software Developer on the Back End team, you are a senior individual contributor who combines strong hands-on skills with the ability to influence across teams, reduce ambiguity, and scale solutions beyond a single codebase. You shape architecture and standards, act as a technical leader through design reviews and RFCs, and mentor senior and junior engineers alike. Contact Maira Russo - Senior Talent Acquisition Partner Core Responsibilities Define and evolve technical architecture, establishing standards that support safe, scalable, and reusable capabilities across teams. Act as a technical leader across teams, influencing architectural decisions through design reviews, RFCs, and hands-on collaboration. Own key features and architectural improvements end-to-end — from design through build — using modern, leading-edge technology and architecture. Lead proof-of-concepts that inform roadmap and architectural decisions. Take initiative on complex, business-critical challenges such as third-party extensibility and real-time multi-user synchronization. Partner with QA, Product, Security, and Domain SMEs to ensure robust observability, reliability, and quality of the systems you own. Establish and promote engineering standards and best practices to improve consistency, security, and maintainability. Drive operational excellence by identifying systemic risks and eliminating root causes that impact reliability, performance, or cost. Partner with DevOps and Security teams to evolve CI/CD pipelines, deployment strategies, and production safeguards. Mentor senior and junior engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and technical guidance. Participate in production support as a senior escalation point, leading root cause analysis and driving preventative improvements. Collaborate with a team of deep technical experience and strong domain knowledge; brainstorm and share ideas within an agile team of developers, testers, and a product owner. AI-Augmented Development Expectations Champion effective, responsible use of AI-assisted development tools across multiple teams. Define standards and guardrails for how AI-assisted and agentic tooling is used across the SDLC, balancing velocity with correctness, security, and maintainability. Evaluate and pilot new AI-assisted development tools and agentic workflows; make recommendations on adoption at scale. Mentor senior and junior engineers on advanced AI-assisted development practices. Own feedback loops and metrics that measure the impact of AI-assisted development on velocity and quality across teams. Core Qualifications 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with demonstrated impact beyond a single team. In-depth, extensive experience with .NET and C# — viewed as a subject matter expert on all things .NET. Proven experience designing and evolving shared platforms or infrastructure used by multiple teams. Experience delivering cloud-native systems on AWS, with familiarity around scalability, reliability, security, and cost management. Experience working with both monolith applications and microservices. Good experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes). Knowledge of relational databases, such as SQL Server. Solid software engineering fundamentals and the ability to balance delivery speed with long-term platform health. Proven experience contributing to, and taking ownership of, important architectural decisions. Experience working in an agile team with other developers, testers, and a product owner. Strong communication skills and the ability to influence technical direction across teams. Strong initiative to improve processes, tools, methodologies, and product quality. Nice to Have Experience with cloud providers beyond AWS (Azure, Google Cloud). Contributions to open-source projects or a strong GitHub portfolio.
