About the job This position is needed to add to our Voice Connectivity Trust team to enable Keystone AI to better support our customers using Voice in their solutions. As a Software Engineer on this team you will participate in all phases of the software development life cycle which includes requirements gathering with Product Managers, technical design, estimations, sprint planning, coding, testing, deployments and on-call support. This engineer will own, operate and maintain their teams’ services in a distributed production environment, employing agile methodologies to continuously deliver value to customers. Responsibilities In this role, you’ll: Be an owner: Design and implement real-time services with high throughput and low latency requirements, verify, deploy and operationalize them Wear the customer's shoes: Work closely with stakeholders to understand customer needs and, devise and deliver, simple, robust and scalable solutions Write it down: Be comfortable expressing thoughts and ideas as detailed prose and use it as an effective means to collaborate with leads, architects and cross functional teams Be bold: Embrace the challenge of scaling a complex distributed platform with points of presence globally, each one concerned with high availability, high reliability, high throughput, low latency, and media fidelity Draw the owl: Figure out novel ways of solving customer problems for the Voice channel Qualifications Not all applicants will have skills that match a job description exactly. We are always looking for people who will bring something new to the table! *Required: Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience in a large scale, distributed applications environment on JVM based technologies Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field Strong Computer Science fundamentals not limited to data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems Experience building RESTful services, API design and event-driven architectures (Kafka, SQS) Hands-on experience designing and driving the optimization of CI/CD pipelines Experience with on-call rotations, incident response, monitoring/alerting tools (Prometheus, Datadog, Grafana) Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructures such as AWS, GCP, OpenStack or Azure Excellent written communication skills - essential for effective AI prompting and for creating clear technical documentation (with or without AI assistance) Proven ability to critically evaluate AI-generated code for correctness, security, performance, and maintainability Hands-on Java experience with strong fundamentals, able to architect, review, and debug code whether it's yours, a teammate's, or an AI agent's Demonstrated proficiency working with AI coding assistants (Claude, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar) - you should be able to describe your workflows and show examples Experience scaling data tiers employing a variety of SQL/NoSQL database and caching technologies Hands on experience scaling production backend systems, with the proven ability to design and develop horizontally-scalable, resilient and performing-under-load systems Strong team collaborator who is both highly motivated and a motivating influence on peers Demonstrated technical leadership by driving architectural decisions, leading cross-functional technical initiatives, and actively mentoring team members Desired: Can demonstrate how you effectively use AI to deliver value efficiently Knowledge and experience working with SIP protocol Knowledge and experience working with Stir/Shaken protocol Location This role will be remote, and based in Ireland.
